As a Navy Veteran of World War II, he worked hanging drywall until he retired. "Pappy" played on pool and bowling leagues in his younger days and loved golfing, fishing, camping and hunting. He was a devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend who had a great love for his animals.

Survived by his wife Geraldine "Gerry" of Ferron, sons Gary (Betty) of Ferron, John (Lisa) of Grantsville, Michael (Vickie) of Carlsbad N.M., Robert (Jennie) of Milford, Iowa; daughters Barbara (Don) Petty of Emery, Karen (Sammy) Caldwell of Stansbury Park, Penny (Kevin) Stewart of Stockton; 40 grandkids, 83 great-grandkids, and 12 great-great-grandkids. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin McCart, daughter-in-law Sammie Kay, granddaughters Denise and Diane, and great-granddaughter Paige Cedy.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Diane Tadehara and Melinda Allridge from Rocky Mountain Hospice and the staff at the Emery County Care and Rehab for showing Dad so much love and respect.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Ferron Millsite LDS Ward Chapel (35 W. 200 N). A viewing was Friday, June 24, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ferron Millsite LDS Ward building, and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services, also at the church.
