Eighth Grade Girls Tournament Team Wins Big

The eighth grade girls traveling tournament team, coached by Dennis Pearson was one of 24 teams from Delta to Emery and North Sanpete to Fredonia, Ariz. that played three games every Saturday throughout March and April. They traveled to different gyms across the state. Emery girls posted a season record of 20 wins and one loss. The one loss was the first game of the year to Manti.

The year end tournament was in Richfield April 25-26. Emery's first game was against Delta which Emery won 30-21. This win advanced the team to the semifinals where they played South Sevier. Emery defeated that team with a score of 25-21 advancing them to the finals.

The final game was against who else but the team that had handed Emery their only loss of the season, Manti. The first half was a close game but the second half Emery controlled the game. Emery came away with a 45-37 win.

Members of the traveling tournament team were: Meagan Pearson, Camille Fehlberg, Jody Lundell, Rachel Rasmussen, Shalae Cox, Malorie Quick, Brandee Wilson, Jaylee Jensen, Whitney Jensen and Tara Zserai.
